full description
The Black Ritual Tarot by Adam Zonca is a powerful homage to the beloved Rider-Waite Tarot, created in 2020 with a deep respect for the original artistry of Pamela Colman Smith and Arthur Edward Waite. While the world around us may be filled with colour, this deck invites you to explore the interplay of light and shadow through its unique black-and-white illustrations.
Each card features highly detailed monochromatic etching-style artwork, offering straightforward and familiar imagery for easy interpretation. Zonca carefully studied the original Rider-Waite deck, updating the proportions, anatomy, and compositions to reflect his own artistic vision while preserving the core symbolism and meaning of each card.
A special highlight of the deck is Card 1, The Magician, which features a personal self-portrait of the artist himself, symbolising his journey and inquiry into tarot.
The Black Ritual Tarot presents a contemplative, minimalist perspective on timeless archetypes and symbols — ideal for readers seeking clarity, depth, and a modern ritualistic approach to their tarot practice.
