September Tarot Newsletter | Autumn Equinox Ritual, New Decks & The Hermit

It’s been a busy (and blessed!) few months here at the shop, and I can’t thank you enough for being part of it all. Every order, every comment, every kind word really does mean the world to me.

The tumbleweed has been bothering me since our last chat, so I’m especially glad to be writing to you again now, as we step into the energy of the Autumn Equinox (22nd September) — a turning point where day and night stand in perfect balance. It’s a beautiful moment to pause, reflect, and honour both the light and shadow within our own lives.

✨ Equinox Ritual for Tarot ✨

If you’d like to mark the season, try this simple practice:

  1. Light a candle to represent the balance of light and dark.

  2. Shuffle your deck and ask: “What is ready to be released?” — draw one card.

  3. Then ask: “What wisdom is ready to grow?” — draw a second card.

  4. Jot down one thing you’re ready to release and one you’re ready to grow.

Notice how they echo the season — one falling away like a leaf, the other taking root like a seed. Keep the cards somewhere you’ll see them during the week as a reminder, or add a small symbol in your journal to anchor the shift.

🌟 New Arrivals in the Shop

Here are just a few of the decks that have arrived this month:

…and a few more surprises waiting in the shop!

📺 On YouTube

This month I’ve filmed quite a few walkthroughs and unboxings so you can take a closer look before adding to your collection. Here are two that captivated me the most (though you’ll find more waiting on the channel):

You’ll also find this month’s September Tarotscopes Playlist — all 12 zodiac readings now live. I’m so happy they’re offering such a positive experience with the cards and seem to be building a lovely following.

💝 Tarot Starter Kits

If you’re just beginning (or gifting someone who is), our new Tarot Starter Kits are designed to make learning simple and magical. Each kit comes with a tarot deck, a guide, a velvet bag, crystals, and incense — with the Basic Kit offering a simpler way to dip your toes in first.

Whichever you choose, you’ll have everything you need to begin your tarot journey with confidence.

🌍 Tarot Worldwide

I always keep an eye on how tarot is being portrayed out in the wider world — sometimes it makes me smile, other times I shake my head.

  • Hollywood is still clinging to its old trope of tarot as something dark and cursed (with horror films Tarot and Tarot Curse being the latest examples). We know the real heart of tarot has nothing to do with fear.

  • Far more inspiring was the One-day Conference: Tarot: Origins & Afterlives at London’s Warburg Institute earlier this year. Although it’s finished, the talks are available online and are a wonderful resource for anyone interested in tarot’s history. 👉 Watch the talks here

  • On a lighter note, Marvel’s Agatha All Along Tarot Deck and Guidebook launched in July. Love it or loathe it, it’s introduced tarot to a younger audience who might never have picked up a deck otherwise — and I can only see that as a good thing.

✨Card of the Month: The Hermit

This September — the 9th month of the year — it feels only fitting that our guiding card is The Hermit, Major Arcana IX.

In numerology, 9 is the number of wisdom, completion, and looking inward before the next cycle begins.

The Hermit isn’t about isolation or loneliness (though that’s often how he’s misunderstood). Instead he’s the quiet inner voice, the lantern that lights the way when we slow down enough to listen.

For me, The Hermit always arrives as a reminder to take a breath, step back from the noise, and reconnect with our own truth. It’s a beautiful energy for journalling, for study, or simply for allowing yourself a pause before making decisions. Sometimes the wisest answers don’t come from the outside world at all — they come from within.

I hope this month brings you inspiration, clarity, and a little enchantment.
