Tarot Insights for October: The Wheel of Fortune & Samhain Magic
As the wheel turns and we move deeper into autumn, I’m so grateful to have you here. Every order, every comment, and every moment you spend with my videos or shop truly keeps this little tarot world spinning — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The Tarot Card of the Month: The Wheel of Fortune (X)
October is the 10th month, and fittingly, our card is Major Arcana X — The Wheel of Fortune. In numerology, 10 symbolises endings that lead to beginnings — the close of one chapter and the opening of another.
The Wheel feels especially powerful in autumn:
Cycles in motion — leaves falling, nights lengthening, and the harvest turning into rest.
Seasonal threshold — the wheel of the year itself is visibly turning.
Samhain / Old Year’s Night — a reminder of life’s great cycles: endings, beginnings, and the unseen forces that guide us.
This card whispers of change, synchronicity, and fresh opportunities appearing when we least expect them. It asks us to trust the bigger picture, even if the path looks uncertain.
✨ Life is always turning — cycles open and close, fortunes rise and fall, and sometimes the best thing we can do is trust the flow rather than resist it.
A Simple Reflection Ritual
One of the simplest ways to work with this month’s energy is just to sit with the Wheel of Fortune card. Place it in front of you, take a few slow breaths, and ask yourself:
Where am I resisting change?
Where can I surrender to the turning of the wheel?
Even a short pause like this can bring more trust in the cycle you’re in and a stronger sense of connection to the bigger picture.
Samhain – The Old Year’s Night
Traditionally, Samhain (Sow-in) ran from sunset on 31st October to sunset on 1st November. It marked the end of harvest and the start of winter, and people believed the veil between this world and the spirit world grew thin. Bonfires were lit, food and drink left out, and disguises worn to keep wandering spirits at bay.
Later, Christianity layered in All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls’ Day. Over time, “souling” (knocking on doors offering prayers for food) and carved turnips slowly turned into trick-or-treating and pumpkin lanterns. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried those customs to America, where Halloween blossomed into the celebration we know today.
Whether you embrace the costumes and pumpkins of Halloween or the deeper traditions of Samhain, this night still holds a special kind of magic. It’s a threshold moment — a chance to pause with our cards, listen for guidance, and set intentions for the cycle ahead.
